Modern loft office

What began as a workshop with an upstairs entertaining space evolved into something much more meaningful. In the wake of the pandemic and a shift to working from home, this project took on new purpose, becoming a place not just for productivity, but for connection and rest, too.

We divided the long, narrow footprint into intentional zones to support how the space would be used day to day. There’s a dedicated area for remote work and virtual meetings, a kitchenette for morning coffee and after-hours drinks, and a cozy, layered seating area perfect for hosting friends on game day. Every detail was designed to feel both functional and welcoming.

A Flexible Retreat for Work and Play

Since this office is located on a 2nd floor (technically an attic space), there was unused space located in the eves. Rather than let that space go unused, cabinets were thoughtfully built directly into those areas to house storage space for printers, filing cabinets, and much more.

Maximized Storage

The wall of cabinets behind the kitchenette holds a number of surprises behind their doors. There is a panel-ready fridge and an access door for the mechanical room that holds the HVAC system. Also, there's also a coffee station for those morning pick me ups and a small TV and taps for afterhours use.

Secret Stations

This client is an expert in engineering and metalworking so this office was designed with a modern industrial aesthetic. One main way this was incorporated is the knurled texture on the cabinet handles and kitchen faucet. (Knurling is a metalworking process that creates a textured surface.)
